UNILATERAL APPRENTICESHIP COMMITTEES (UAC'S)

Unilateral Apprenticeship Committees

  (UAC's)

In 1939, the Shelly-Maloney Apprentice Labor Standards Act became law in California.  The purpose of the law is to provide a uniform approach to training  in skilled occupations through formal apprenticeship training programs.

The five unilateral committees in the ABC Golden Gate chapter are:

Carpentry UAC        Electrical UAC

Plumbing UAC          Painting UAC

Construction Craft Laborer

These committee members donate there time to our ABC – GGC apprentices.  Their role is to recruit, select and supervise training apprentices.  Uniformly they apply rules and regulations concerning credit for previous experience (if any), equality of wages, periodic advancement, job performance, rotation among all work processes of the trade, school attendance, imposition of penalties or other aspects of the apprenticeship program as well as take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in our programs.

Worse than losing those you have trained......
Is being left with those you haven't.

Thank You to all of our UAC Committees!

For your Time Effort and Commitment to our ABC-GGC Apprentices
