JED DEAN OF THE FLORIDA GULF COAST CHAPTER NAMED BEAM CLUB MEMBER OF THE YEAR  (04/08/2009)
Jed Dean of Skanska USA Building, Inc., Tampa, Fla., was named ABC’s 2008 Beam Club Member of the Year during the association’s 2009 National Convention in Honolulu.  ABC presents the award each year to the individual who is considered the top membership recruiter.

“It is a pleasure to honor Jed as Beam Club Member of the Year for the second year in a row,” said 2009 ABC National Chairman Jerry Gorski, president of Gorski Engineering Inc., Collegeville, Pa. “Thanks to members like Jed, who lead by example and truly believe in ABC’s projects, programs and people, ABC has grown into one of the most prominent construction trade associations in the nation.  Jed’s passion for ABC and his positive attitude should serve as an inspiration for us all.”

Since joining ABC in 1996, Dean has recruited 126 members including 65 last year and 14 in 2007 – making him ABC’s 2007 Beam Club Member of the Year as well.  Dean, a former chairman of the Florida Gulf Coast chapter’s board of directors, frequently travels throughout the chapter’s service area, acting as a “goodwill ambassador,” interacting with both ABC members and prospective members.

Dean was selected from a field of seven regional Beam Club Member of the Year winners including:

Region 1: Ken Kreischer, Western Water Construction, Inc., Golden Gate chapter
Region 2: Rich Loberg, Loberg Excavating, Inc., Illinois chapter
Region 3: Michelle Seward Davis, Joeris General Contractors, Ltd., South Texas chapter
Region 5: Kenneth Mallick, Jr., Mallick Plumbing & Heating, Inc., Metro Washington chapter
Region 6: Ed Duke, Enterprise, Northern Ohio chapter
Region 7: Cliff Wilson, Benchmark Construction Co., Inc., Keystone chapter

The Beam Club was established in 1966 to recognize ABC’s top membership recruiters for their commitment to growing the association.  By recruiting five new members, ABC members are automatically enrolled in the Beam Club by their chapter.  Members receive one point for each new member recruited.  Beam Club activity is ongoing from year to year, with members’ point totals continually accruing and advancing members to the next Beam Club award level.
