ABC wants to remind members that the deadline to submit Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) applications in time to receive a certificate at their chapter’s Safety Awards ceremony is Feb. 27. To submit an application, click

ABC’s STEP program recognizes the efforts of ABC members who consistently strive to achieve effective best safety practices on jobsites and provides contractors with a tool to objectively evaluate their safety programs, policies and procedures. All that a member company needs to complete a STEP application is their current OSHA 300 and 300A forms.
Participation is encouraged year-round, although applications must be turned in to local chapters by the Feb. 27 deadline to participate in the chapter awards ceremony. The forms are evaluated and awarded either Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum status based on safety performance and the applicant’s score on the “20 Key Components,” ABC’s innovative safety evaluation system.
ABC members that join the STEP program and achieve Gold or Platinum level, become eligible to apply for Accredited Quality Contractor status. Exceptional STEP applicants, receiving the Platinum level, are eligible to apply for the prestigious National Safety Excellence Award, presented annually at the Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.
