Ten ABC member companies Nov. 5 were recognized in 13 categories of McGraw-Hill Construction’s 2009 Best of the Best Awards, a national competition based on the winners of McGraw-Hill Construction’s 10 regional publications’ Best of 2009 Awards.
Out of 273 regional winners, an independent jury of construction professionals selected 76 national finalists and 24 national winners in 23 categories. Projects were judged on innovation, safety, contribution to the community, aesthetic quality and craftsmanship.
ABC members companies that received awards are:
- Turner Construction, Co., in the Architectural Design and Cultural categories for the Art Institute of Chicago, Modern Wing and Nichols Bridgeway project in Chicago, and in the Transportation category for the Package 6, Main Terminal People Mover Station at Washington Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, Va.
- Hunt Construction Group, Inc., in the Engineering Design category for the Col. H. Weir Cook Terminal Building at Indianapolis International Airport project in Indianapolis.
- Adolfson & Peterson Construction in the Environmental category for the River Point at Sheridan project in Sheridan, Colo.
- Clark Construction Group, LLC, in the Healthcare and Teamwork/Project Management categories for the LAC+USC Medical Replacement Facility project in Los Angeles.
- DPR Joint Venture in the Higher Education/Research category for their part in the Scripps Florida project in Jupiter, Fla.
- BE&K Building Group, a KBR Co., in the K-12 Education category for the Cherokee Central Schools Building Program project in Cherokee, N.C.
- Sundt Construction, Inc., in the Office category for the Sony Electronics North American Headquarters project in San Diego.
- DonahueFavret Contractors, Inc., in the Residential/Hospitality category for the 200 Carondelet project in New Orleans.
- Schuff Steel, Co., in the Specialty Contracting category for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Expansion project in Phoenix.
- Hensel Phelps Construction, Co., in the Sports/Recreation category for the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, North End Zone Expansion project in Austin, Texas.
