DOL ENCOURAGES EMPLOYEES AND THIRD PARTIES TO REPORT WAGE AND HOUR VIOLATIONS  (04/21/2010)
The Department of Labor (DOL) April 1 announced a new program that encourages employees and third parties to report wage and hour violations.

According to Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, the program, titled “We Can Help,” is being implemented in an effort to make low-wage earners and immigrants aware of their rights under wage and hour laws.  The program will focus on targeted industries, including construction, and will encourage workers to report wage and hour violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act to DOL.  In addition, DOL is encouraging third-parties to report violations on behalf of employees.

Information on the campaign, including DOL-sponsored public service announcements and posters, frequently asked questions and resources for employees and third-party complainants can use to report violations can be found on the We Can Help website.
