ABC members can sign up for a new break out session on grassroots involvement to be held during the 2010 Legislative Conference, June 15-17 in Washington, D.C.
During the grassroots breakout session June 17, attendees will hear from Carol Laham of Wiley Rein, LLP, legal counsel for ABC and a nationally recognized expert who advises corporations, trade associations, political groups, candidates, political action committees, media corporations and individuals on federal and state campaign finance, lobbying and political involvement law. Lanham will discuss what employers can and cannot do to motivate their employees to get involved in the political process as well as what the law prohibits employers from saying to their employees when encouraging them to make their voices and opinions heard with elected officials.
In addition to the breakout session, ABC will also be launching at the Legislative Conference the Grassroots Self-Audit and Awards Program that will recognize and reward chapters based on seven grassroots activities: involvement in the grassroots volunteer leadership; website updates; chapter publications; action alerts; chapter staff contact for grassroots; and involvement in state level activities.
